Continuing her work

Rupa believed that the world must be a better place. She cared about empowering the disadvantaged. She wanted women to be free to do and say what they wished. She lamented the billions of brown and female voices that have been silenced by sexist and racist repression. Her written and spoken words, her art and her role of friend, guide, mentor and leader were manifestations of Rupa’s efforts to bring about the change that she knew was not only possible but necessary. Rupa is no longer able to fight this fight but we can continue her work. We ask you to continue the effort to bring about the world that she envisioned. Whether through voting, volunteering, participating in your community, donating to a charity or some other means, consider improving the circumstances of those who needed her help.

API Chaya is a Seattle based organization helping survivors of gender-based violence and exploitation. We feel it is an organization that represented Rupa’s ideals and shared her goals. Please consider donating to API Chaya to remember Rupa.
